Basketball Recap: Sierra Lutheran Takes a Loss

Sierra Lutheran played a tough matchup on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Battle Mountain Longhorns and fell 44-9. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-2.

They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Noel White and Chloe Friend, who each put up four points. Kayla Carpenter held things down on the boards with four rebounds.

Battle Mountain got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Noel Hill out in front who posted 13 points along with eight assists and six steals. Hill is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lindsey Bleak, who earned eight points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Sierra Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Battle Mountain, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sierra Lutheran will take on Portola at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Battle Mountain, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against North Tahoe at 6:00 p.m.
