Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is Lovejoy's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Lovejoy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against the McKinney North Bulldogs by a score of 56-49. Given the Leopards' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 252nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

McKinney North's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryhan Balous, who posted 13 points and eight assists. Balous has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Chloe Kostka, who had 11 points.

Lovejoy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.6 points per game. As for McKinney North, their loss dropped their record down to 15-15.

Lovejoy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 45-35 victory against Melissa on the 28th. McKinney North has also already played their next game (against Walnut Grove), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
