Basketball Recap: Taya Taukiuvea and Kennedy Davis Secure Win for Centura

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Centura on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Loomis Wolves as the Centura Centurions made off with a 48-26 win. The victory was nothing new for the Centurions as they're now sitting on three straight.

Centura was led to victory by Kennedy Davis and Taya Taukiuvea. Davis dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 12 rebounds, and ten blocks, while Taukiuvea posted eight points in addition to ten boards and eight assists. The dominant performance also gave Taukiuvea a new career-high in blocks (two). Kelly Fanta also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Centura was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Loomis only racked up five assists.

Despite the loss, Loomis still got an impressive performance from Addison Perry, who had nine points.

Centura is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.8 points per game. As for Loomis, their loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-16.

Centura didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 40-32 win against St. Paul on the 28th. As for Loomis, they will venture away from home to take on Gibbon at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Loomis is facing Gibbon at the right time seeing as Gibbon is stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
