Recap: Boulder City Eagles vs. Moapa Valley Pirates
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Boulder City Eagles, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 62-14 defeat at the hands of Moapa Valley on Friday. Boulder City has struggled against Moapa Valley recently, as their match on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Easton Welbourne, who picked up 156 receiving yards and a touchdown. Gage Hopkinson was another key contributor, throwing for 246 yards and two touchdowns.
Degan Jones had an outrageously good game for Moapa Valley as he picked up 139 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Jones was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 62 yards. Mateo Bradshaw also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Boulder City's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Moapa Valley, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Boulder City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Moapa Valley will head out on the road to face off against Truckee at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Truckee is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
