Baseball Recap: Salem Quakers vs. Rootstown Rovers
Salem couldn't beat Rootstown on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Quakers fell just short of the Rovers by a score of 6-5. The Quakers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bairon Exline made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Riesen, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Salem's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Rootstown, their victory bumped their record up to 13-7.
Coming up, Salem will host United at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Quakers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Rootstown, they will square off against Cuyahoga Falls at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Black Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.5 runs per game on average), something the Rovers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
