Basketball Recap: Whiting Takes a Loss

Whiting was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Highland Trojans, falling 75-43. The Oilers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-17.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Highland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Justin Pack, who went 7 of 12 en route to 16 points along with six boards and three steals. Pack's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Danijel Zekavica, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points.

Whiting's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Highland, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.

Whiting wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 72-48 loss against Calumet New Tech on the 14th. Highland and Illiana Christian will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Highland knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Illiana Christian likes a good challenge.
