Basketball Recap: Kemet Ziem Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Leake County

Piney Woods hadn't done well against Leake County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Piney Woods Tornadoes strolled past the Leake County Gators with points to spare, taking the game 65-50. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tornadoes.

Piney Woods' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kemet Ziem, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. Ziem is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Banyi, who went 9 for 18 en route to 20 points and five assists.

When it comes to explaining why Leake County lost, don't look at LaTavean Fortune. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 13 on his way to 18 points. Davion Towsend was another key player, putting up seven points.

Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Leake County, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-8.
