Basketball Recap: Khalil Townsend Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Northwest Halifax

There's no place like home for Warren County, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They came out on top against the Northwest Halifax Vikings by a score of 66-54 on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 61-45 back in December of 2024.

Warren County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khalil Townsend, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Townsend has become a key player for Warren County: the team is 8-3 when he posts at least eight boards, but 1-2 otherwise. Nazir Shaw was another key player, going 6 of 11 on his way to 17 points.

Warren County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Warren County's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Northwest Halifax, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Warren County will venture away from home to square off against KIPP P at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest Halifax has already played their next matchup, a 77-57 defeat against Wilson Prep on the 18th.
