Softball Game Preview: Robinson Knights vs. Sumner Stingrays

The Robinson Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Sumner Stingrays at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Robinson has given up an average of 7.9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Robinson came up short against Riverview on Tuesday, falling 18-9. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Maddy Satin was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-5. Cheyenne Crump was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Sumner unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 8-1 to Bloomingdale.

Sumner saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aliyanis Stubbs, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Robinson's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Sumner, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.

Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Robinson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. However, it's not like Sumner struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Robinson suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Sumner in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
