Volleyball Recap: Nerinx Hall's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

After a string of three wins, Nerinx Hall's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 3-1 to the Lutheran Cougars. The Markers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Nerinx Hall started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-22.

Despite the loss, Nerinx Hall still got an impressive performance from Leah Stephens, who had 28 digs and one assist. Another player making a difference was Ellie Garrett, who had four digs and three aces.

Leading Lutheran to victory were Samantha O'Day and Eliana Sweet. O'Day had 15 digs and five aces, while Sweet had eight digs and two aces. O'Day is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Nerinx Hall's defeat dropped their record down to 12-19. As for Lutheran, their victory ended a five-match drought on the road and puts them at 11-17-1.

Coming up, Nerinx Hall will be playing at home against Parkway South at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lutheran, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Hillsboro on the 16th.
