Basketball Recap: Cleveland Heights Comes Up Short

On Monday, the Cleveland Heights Tigers lost to the Garfield Bulldogs on the road by a 76-62 margin. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 60th in Ohio, while the Bulldogs are ranked tenth in Washington).

Despite the loss, Cleveland Heights still got an impressive performance from Iyan Bremer, who went 9 of 14 on his way to 15 points and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Sandale Jackson, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 10 points and eight rebounds.

Cleveland Heights' defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-5. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.4 points per game. As for Garfield, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.

Cleveland Heights didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 78-70 win against Mentor on the 3rd. As for Garfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 81-71 loss against Rainier Beach on the 3rd.
