Recap: Jay Royals vs. L.E.A.D. Academy Lions
The Jay Royals scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat L.E.A.D. Academy 66-30 on the road. Jay might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four matchups by 22 points or more this season.
Jay's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaylee Gilbreath, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Presley Hawthorne, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Jay pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.1 points per game. As for L.E.A.D. Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jay's road trip will continue as they head out to face Poplar Springs at 12:00 p.m. on January 4th. Poplar Springs will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 528th, while Jay is ranked 64th). As for L.E.A.D. Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Rocky Bayou Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
