New Boston hasn't had much luck against Daingerfield recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lions will host the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Friday, New Boston made easy work of Hughes Springs and carried off a 41-16 win.
New Boston found their leader in freshman Javonte Giddens, who rushed for 177 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Kason Campbell, who picked up 132 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
New Boston was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 257 rushing yards. They are a perfect 5-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

New Boston didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Campbell. He also hauled in two receiving touchdowns, which is notable because New Boston is undefeated when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Daingerfield came tearing into two weeks ago's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.6 points), and they left with even more momentum. They really took it to the Mustangs for the full four quarters, racking up a 72-16 victory. With the Tigers ahead 41-8 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
New Boston better keep an eye on Isaiah Parker. He was instrumental in Daingerfield's win, throwing for 280 yards and five touchdowns on only 16 passes, while also rushing for 55 yards. Parker has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Ashton Williams was another key player, rushing for 129 yards and a pair of scores.
Daingerfield's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB seven times. The heavy lifting was done by Williams and Tanner Teeter, who racked up six sacks between them.
New Boston's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Daingerfield, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 6-3.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. New Boston has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 193.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Daingerfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 175.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
New Boston was taken down by Daingerfield 56-19 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Lions, Chase Johnson (who threw for 214 yards and four TDs on only 16 passes, and also rushed for 63 yards and a pair of scores on only five carries) won't be suiting up this time.
