Basketball Recap: Pinnacle Comes Up Short

Pinnacle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 76-70 heartbreaker at the hands of the Liberty Lions. The Pioneers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 72-66.

Despite the loss, Pinnacle still got an impressive performance from Ryan Nelson, who went 9-for-18 en route to 21 points. Another player making a difference was Rhys Robinson, who went 5-for-7 to rack up 10 points.

It was another big night for Stephan Miller, who went 7-for-8 from beyond the arc on his way to 37 points for Liberty. Those 37 points gave Miller a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Hunter, who posted 14 points and eight boards.

Pinnacle's record now sits at 8-17. As for Liberty, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-9.

Coming up, Pinnacle will square off against Cibola at 7:00 p.m. on February 21st. Cibola will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Pinnacle surely won't give up without a fight. As for Liberty, they have already played their next matchup, a 61-49 defeat against Williams Field on the 19th.
