Volleyball Recap: Arcata Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Arcata had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Fortuna Huskies as they made off with a 3-0 win. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Huskies, too.

The final score came out to 25-8, 25-11, 25-18.

Arcata's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aliyah Aaron led the charge by getting five digs and five aces. Those five aces gave Aaron a new career-high.

Aaron wasn't the only good server: Arcata was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 12 aces in three consecutive matchups.

Arcata's victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arcata will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Bernard's at 6:30 a.m. on September 9. As for Fortuna, they will head out to take on Ferndale at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
