The Butler Bulldogs will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Thomson Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. Butler will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Butler will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Laney, who they hadn't topped in eight consecutive meetings. Butler sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 21-20 win over Laney on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Thomson got themselves on the board against Glenn Hills on Tuesday, but Glenn Hills never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Spartans as they made off with a 17-0 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Chloe Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive pitching appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jaliyah Ruff was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Janiya Drake, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Butler's record now sits at 5-3. As for Thomson, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-9.

Butler suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Thomson when the teams last played back in August of 2023. Can Butler avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
