Basketball Recap: Sophie Hass Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat West Union

Smithville hadn't done well against West Union recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Smithville Seminoles walked away with a 35-26 win over the West Union Eagles. This was payback for the Seminoles, who suffered a 44-37 loss the last time these two teams met.

Smithville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophie Hass, who posted seven points in addition to 11 boards and five assists. The dominant performance gave Hass a new career-high in rebounds. Mikayla Wall was another key player, putting up ten points along with six boards and three steals.

The win got Smithville back to even at 9-9. As for West Union, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-19.

Smithville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 39-13 victory against Lamar County on the 23rd. As for West Union, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 38-19 win against Houlka on the 24th.
