Basketball Recap: Needville Comes Up Short

Needville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 18th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Sweeny Bulldogs, falling 44-18. The Bluejays were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-7.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sweeny to victory, but perhaps none more so than K Bivens, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards. Bivens is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Daija Stubblefield, who went 5 of 7 en route to 10 points and eight rebounds.

Needville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Sweeny, they moved to 5-10 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

Needville will head out to challenge El Campo at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sweeny, they will welcome Bay City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
