Preview: General McLane Lancers vs. Northwestern Wildcats
After four games on the road, General McLane is heading back home. They will take on the Northwestern Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
General McLane has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 26 points or more this season. They blew past Jamestown 70-35 on the road. That 70-35 margin sets a new team best for General McLane this season.
Meanwhile, Northwestern ended up a good deal behind Conneaut on Wednesday and lost 70-55. While losing is never fun, Northwestern can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 350th in Pennsylvania, while Conneaut is ranked 114th in Ohio).
General McLane's victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1. As for Northwestern, they bumped their record down to 0-2 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for General McLane against Northwestern when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 66-31 victory. Does General McLane have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northwestern turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
