Basketball Recap: Hill City Comes Up Short

Hill City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 23rd straight defeat dating back to last season. They received a blow as they fell 34-19 to the Golden Plains Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Ringnecks of the 34-26 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Hill City still got an impressive performance from Rylie Minium, who posted 13 points along with five boards and five steals. That was a full 68.4% of Hill City's points, marking the 12th time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Hill City's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Golden Plains, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Hill City has already played their next matchup, a 59-26 loss against Quinter on the 13th. As for Golden Plains, they and Northern Valley will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Golden Plains' favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Northern Valley has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
