Football Recap: Eastern Guilford Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Eastern Guilford lost against Northern Guilford back in August of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Wildcats lost 34-14 to the Nighthawks. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while the Nighthawks are ranked 33rd).

Despite the loss, Eastern Guilford still got an impressive performance from Javion Majette, who rushed for 58 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 111 yards on 12 of 17 attempts. Majette is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Northern Guilford had a senior duo take command as Jaxson Kemp threw for 187 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes and Christopher Morrison Jr picked up 76 receiving yards and three scores. The Nighthawks also got help from Greyson Council, who showed off his sure hands for 100 receiving yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Eastern Guilford and nudges their season record down to 4-5. As for Northern Guilford, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern Guilford will face off against Northeast Guilford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rams' defense has only allowed 11.7 points per game this season, so the Wildcats' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Northern Guilford, they will challenge Southeast Guilford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
