Softball Game Preview: Langley Saxons vs. Corning-Painted Post Hawks

The Langley Saxons will square off against the Corning-Painted Post Hawks at 8:00 a.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Langley's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against George C. Marshall as they made off with a 6-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Saxons in their matchups with the Statesmen: they've now won seven in a row.

Norah Jacques was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one double.

In other batting news, Caitlin Hohenthaner was incredible, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ali Glantzis, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Corning-Painted Post came tearing into Wednesday's contest with five straight wins dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over the Express.

Langley's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Corning-Painted Post, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
