Basketball Recap: Mid-Pacific Institute Falls Despite Big Games from Riley Miura and Logan Mason

Mid-Pacific Institute was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 69-65 heartbreaker at the hands of the University Laboratory School Junior Rainbows. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Owls this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 66-49 two weeks ago.

Logan Mason and Riley Miura certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Mason went 5 for 12 en route to 24 points and three steals, while Miura went 9 of 13 on his way to 23 points. Mason's afternoon made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Ryan Man was another key player, putting up nine points.

Mid-Pacific Institute now has a losing record at 14-15. As for University Laboratory School, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-7.

Mid-Pacific Institute wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-65 victory against Kamehameha Kapalama on the 28th. University Laboratory School has also already played their next game, a 49-48 win against Punahou on the 28th.
