Football Recap: Bayshore Takes Down Chamberlain in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Bayshore rose to the challenge on Friday. They took down the Chamberlain Storm 27-12. This was payback for the Bruins, who suffered a 47-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Jaydis Wiley produced another solid effort throwing for 186 yards and three touchdowns. He is becoming a predictor of Bayshore's success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is 4-1 (and 1-5 when he doesn't). Jashun Judge handled things on the ground, rushing for 83 yards.

Bayshore didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Chamberlain to a completion percentage of just 47.4%. The team can thank Xavier Austin for the heroic effort on defense: he. Bayshore wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 63.6%.

Bayshore didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Imari Thomas, Devaughn Scott, and Austin picked up one apiece. With that strong performance, Austin is now averaging an impressive 1.2 defended passes per game. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why Chamberlain lost, don't look at Anthony Ford. Despite the final result, he rushed for 87 yards and one TD on only 12 carries.

Bayshore's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-6. As for Chamberlain, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.

Looking ahead, Bayshore will head out to square off against Booker at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tornadoes' defense has only allowed 10.1 points per game this season, so the Bruins' offense will have their work cut out for them. Chamberlain does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
