Baseball Recap: Mt. Vernon Takes a Loss

Mt. Vernon fell victim to Mascoutah and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 10-0 to the Indians. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Rams have suffered since March 21st.

Mt. Vernon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryker Perigo, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Perigo is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Mt. Vernon's defeat dropped their record down to 11-16. As for Mascoutah, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Vernon will host Richland County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.21 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mascoutah, they will take on Granite City at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
