Basketball Recap: Silver Lake's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Silver Lake hadn't done well against Axtell recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Silver Lake Mustangs came out on top against the Axtell Wildcats by a score of 62-54. The win was just business as usual for the Mustangs, who after three games remain undefeated this season.

Silver Lake got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Landon Duester out in front who went 8 of 14 en route to 23 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Duester a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Casey Conway, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points.

Axtell's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cade Axtell, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Halvorsen, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Silver Lake's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Axtell, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Silver Lake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-25 victory against Elba on the 13th. As for Axtell, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 75-60 win against Overton on the 13th.
