Softball Recap: Lake Havasu's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

There's no place like home for Lake Havasu, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Ironwood Eagles on Thursday. Considering the Knights' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Haley Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lake Havasu let Emely Navarro and Vivian Velazquez run wild. Navarro went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles, while Velazquez got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs. That's the most runs Velazquez has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Jaramillo, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

With the win, Lake Havasu broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-11. As for Ironwood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-14.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lake Havasu beat the Eagles by a score of 14-1 later that day.
