Soccer Game Preview: Bishop Diego vs. Cate

Bishop Diego hasn't had much luck against Cate recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bishop Diego Cardinals will venture away from home to challenge the Cate Rams at 3:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, Bishop Diego didn't have quite enough to beat Foothill Tech and fell 4-3. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Cate put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let Thacher onto the board and left with an 8-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won eight contests by four goals or more so far this season.

Cate used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Thacher. Three players hit the pitch for the first time this season: Nolan Montoya, Teke Meisel, and Charlie Dorion. The pair took full advantage of the opportunity: Montoya put up three assists and one steal, while he put up one assist and 18 steals.

Cate pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 35 goals over those five matchups. As for Bishop Diego, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3-1.

Bishop Diego suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Cate when the teams last played back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Bishop Diego was down 5-1.
