Baseball Recap: Wayne's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

While Wayne's win against Geneva wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Panthers 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted against the Panthers since May 24, 2021.

Michael Grasso and Aidan Twist did most of the damage at the plate: Grasso went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Twist went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That triple was Grasso's first of the season. Kahlen Clark was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

The victory was the third in a row for Wayne, bringing their record up to 6-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Geneva, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Wayne will challenge rival Penn Yan Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Geneva is set to square off against their familiar foe Newark at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
