Softball Game Preview: Winamac Warriors vs. South Central Satellites

Winamac is 0-3 against South Central since April of 2021 but things could change on Saturday. The Warriors will venture away from home to square off against the Satellites at 11:00 a.m. South Central took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Winamac, who comes in off a win.

South Central will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Winamac extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. The Warriors blew past Argos 10-0.

Brooke Rausch was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Winamac let Corrin Combs and Maggie Keller run wild. Combs went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double, while Keller scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those four runs gave Keller a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Goodman, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Winamac kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, South Central didn't have quite enough to beat Glenn on Tuesday and fell 4-3.

Caitlin Allen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.

Winamac's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 9.4 runs thus far. As for South Central, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Winamac couldn't quite get it done against South Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
