Softball Recap: Fremont Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Santa Clara, Fremont was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the MacDonald Condor. The victory continues a trend for the Firebirds in their matchups with the Condor: they've now won three in a row.

Jiyah Caban made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

In other batting news, Valerie Cuaresma was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Molly Bobick also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Fremont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as MacDonald only posted a batting average of .250.

Fremont's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for MacDonald, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Fremont will venture away from home to challenge Homestead at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for MacDonald, they will host Gunn at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Condor's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season.
