Cesar Chavez had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Maryvale on Tuesday. Cesar Chavez was the clear victor by a 20-3 margin over Maryvale. The Champions not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 26th.
Zade Munoz made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Cesar Chavez is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4 otherwise. Munoz was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Eddie Pedroza was incredible, firing off three runs, three doubles, and one triple while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Jesus Benitez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Cesar Chavez always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, South Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 13-3 to Valley Vista. That's two games in a row now that the Jaguars have lost by exactly ten runs.
Andy Flores made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Fabian Vargas was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Cesar Chavez has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. South Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 0-10.
South Mountain's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cesar Chavez has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for South Mountain, though, as they've been averaging 11 hits. Given Cesar Chavez's sizable advantage in that area, South Mountain will need to find a way to close that gap.
