The Wheaton Academy Warriors will face off against the Bishop McNamara Fightin' Irish at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Wheaton Academy is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Chicago Hope Academy just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chicago Hope Academy.
Although Wheaton Academy took the loss, they still got scores from Colton Miller, Tommy Sommer, Logan Oros, and Ethan Brooks.
Meanwhile, Bishop McNamara put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their game with ease, bagging a 49-14 victory over Marian Central Catholic. The result was nothing new for the Fightin' Irish, who have now won four matchups by 35 points or more so far this season.
Wheaton Academy better keep an eye on Julius May. He was instrumental in Bishop McNamara's win, rushing for 171 yards and two TDs on only five carries. May got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 90 yards. Another player making a difference was Karter Krustinger, who rushed for 83 yards and one score on only eight carries.
Bishop McNamara was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 360 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 219 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Bishop McNamara didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Krustinger, Richie Darr, and Coen Demack picked up one apiece.
Bishop McNamara's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Wheaton Academy, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-3.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Wheaton Academy has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 203.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bishop McNamara struggles in that department as they've been averaging 338.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Wheaton Academy against Bishop McNamara in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 41-0 victory. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Fightin' Irish have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
