Recap: Black Hills Wolves vs. Timberline Blazers
After flying high against the Hoquiam Grizzlies last Tuesday, the Black Hills Wolves came back down to earth. Black Hills was outmatched by Timberline on the road and fell 73-44. Black Hills was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-19.
Black Hills' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Klovas, who scored eight points. Klovas continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Tyler Venable was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Leading Timberline to victory were Brandi Stanford and Shayla Cordis. Stanford dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 steals, while Cordis dropped a double-double on 40 points and ten steals. The contest was Cordis' ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sierra Cordis, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Black Hills' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2. As for Timberline, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Black Hills will head out on the road to face off against Rochester at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rochester will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Timberline will take on Auburn Mountainview at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Auburn Mountainview will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Timberline is ranked 25th).
