Baseball Recap: Tippecanoe Sets Scoring Season-High Against Ponitz Career Tech

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tippecanoe). They never let the Ponitz Career Tech Golden Panthers get on the board and left with a 28-0 win on Wednesday. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 contests by six runs or more this season.

Cayden McKinney and Landon Muhlenkamp made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, McKinney struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Muhlenkamp tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. McKinney has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. At the plate, McKinney went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Muhlenkamp went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs McKinney has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Preston Zumwalt was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Bryce Eckert, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and two runs.

Tippecanoe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .673. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Tippecanoe, bringing their record up to 22-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ponitz Career Tech, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

Coming up, Tippecanoe will head out on the road to square off against Fairmont at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Devils are facing the Firebirds at the right time seeing as the Firebirds are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. Ponitz Career Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
