Baseball Recap: Addison Comes Up Short

Addison had lost four straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 7-10 to make it five. They lost 11-3 to the Jonesville Comets. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Comets from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Addison saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Wright, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Wright has become a key player for the Panthers: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-9 otherwise.

As for Jonesville, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-5. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won four matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Jonesville's side, Devan Herendeen made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Herendeen was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Jonesville let Drew Bradley and Kade Shannon run wild. Bradley went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Shannon went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Shannon a new career-high. Carsen Cornila also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Looking ahead, Addison will head out to face off against Britton Deerfield at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jonesville, they will welcome Springport at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
