Preview: Broken Arrow Tigers vs. Stillwater Pioneers
The Broken Arrow Tigers will be home for the holidays to greet the Stillwater Pioneers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Broken Arrow has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 24 points or more this season. They blew past Ponca City 61-37. The victory was just what Broken Arrow needed coming off of a 61-34 loss in their prior contest.
Broken Arrow got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Macy Marraccini out in front who scored 20 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Marraccini scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was McKenzie Mathurin, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Stillwater's five-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Tuesday. They slipped by Ponca City 49-48. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Stillwater has managed all season.
Broken Arrow pushed their record up to 3-3 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Stillwater, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-4.
Broken Arrow was able to grind out a solid victory over Stillwater in their previous meeting back in December of 2018, winning 77-68. Does Broken Arrow have another victory up their sleeve, or will Stillwater turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
