Pawnee Heights had to endure a 14-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 54-43 win over the Satanta Indians on Thursday. The Tigers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Despite the loss, Satanta still got an impressive performance from Yahaira Puerto, who posted 20 points and three steals. That was a full 46.5% of Satanta's points, marking the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Dusin, who had eight points and six rebounds.

Pawnee Heights' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-13. As for Satanta, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-11.

Pawnee Heights and Satanta could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings. Pawnee Heights (ranked 313th) will meet Bucklin (ranked 46th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Satanta will square off against Spearville on Tuesday down 220 places (317 vs. 97).
