Soccer Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Drew's Winning Streak

If Drew was feeling good fresh off their 5-0 takedown of Mays last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Drew came up short against the Pace Academy Knights on Thursday, falling 14-0. Drew was red-hot offensively heading into the game (they scored no less than four goals in the four matches prior), but Pace Academy's defense proved too tough.

Drew was without their leading scorer, Stephany Gomez-Vargas, in Thursday's contest. With Gomez-Vargas sidelined, Balderas Vanessa got her first action of the season.

Drew moved to 5-7 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Pace Academy, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Drew will venture away from home to face off against Douglass at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglass will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Drew surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pace Academy, they will head out to challenge Jackson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pace Academy will need to watch out since Jackson has now posted at least four goals in their last three matchups.
