Softball Recap: Lafayette Takes a Loss

Lafayette was the 6-3 winner over Lexington Catholic when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Generals fell just short of the Knights by a score of 2-1 on Monday.

Rylan Music was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run.

Lafayette has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-7 record this season. As for Lexington Catholic, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-8.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lafayette is set to take on their familiar foe Tates Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lexington Catholic will challenge rival Paul Laurence Dunbar at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
