Basketball Recap: Woodson Comes Up Short

After flying high against MacArthur last Wednesday, Woodson came back down to earth. The Woodson Warriors were outmatched by the Coolidge Colts and fell 76-9. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-6.

It was another big night for Josslyn Derricott, who posted 21 points along with six boards and four blocks for Coolidge. Derricott's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Marshea Fisher was another key player, putting up eight points and five assists.

Woodson moved to 5-3 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Coolidge, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodson will host Jackson-Reed at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Coolidge, they will face off against Bard at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Coolidge is facing Bard at the right time seeing as Bard is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
