Preview: Clewiston Tigers vs. Avon Park Red Devils
Clewiston is 4-0 against Avon Park since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Clewiston Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Avon Park Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. Clewiston will be strutting in after a win while Avon Park will be coming in after a defeat.
The third road contest was the charm for Clewiston, as they earned their first road win of the season. They enjoyed a cozy 27-13 victory over Inlet Grove on Thursday.
Clewiston found their leader in underclassman Amos Bradford, who rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Jermarian Pope made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Clewiston's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB eight times. Leading the way was Prince "kd" james and his four sacks.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Avon Park, who are still winless after their eighth matchup. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 32-10 walloping at the hands of LaBelle on Friday. Avon Park was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-0.
Clewiston's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Avon Park, their defeat was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8.
Everything came up roses for Clewiston against Avon Park in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 48-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clewiston since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
