Basketball Recap: Brandon Comes Up Short

Brandon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 45-36 to the Swartz Creek Dragons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-39 back in January.

Despite the defeat, Brandon saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ella Rizzo posted 14 points and five assists. That was a full 38.9% of Brandon's points, marking the third time in a row Rizzo has had more than a third of the team's points. Jaden Williamson was another key player, putting up nine points and five steals.

Even though they lost, Brandon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Brandon's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Swartz Creek, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-14.

Coming up, Brandon will head out on the road to square off against Holly at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Swartz Creek, they will square off against Lake Fenton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
