Basketball Recap: Tellico Plains Comes Up Short

If Tellico Plains was feeling good fresh off their 76-52 takedown of Tyner Academy last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tellico Plains Bears were dealt a 76-49 loss at the hands of the McMinn Central Chargers on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Chargers are ranked 11th).

Tellico Plains moved to 15-11 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points over those games. As for McMinn Central, the victory was the 27th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 28-1.

Tellico Plains does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for McMinn Central, they will take on Meigs County on Wednesday. McMinn Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Meigs County likes a good challenge.
