Basketball Recap: Edgewood Academy Takes a Loss

Edgewood Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-63 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lakeside School Chiefs. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chiefs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Despite the loss, Edgewood Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jadah Townsend went 15-for-28 to rack up 38 points in addition to seven assists and six boards. Townsend's big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Wood, who posted 12 points.

Edgewood Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Lakeside School, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Coming up, Edgewood Academy will take on Southern Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lakeside School, they will square off against Tiftarea Academy at 10:30 a.m. on Monday.
