Softball Recap: Meek Comes Up Short

If Meek was feeling good fresh off their 22-2 takedown of Addison last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ragland Purple Devils on Tuesday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Tigers, who until this game were averaging 3.46 runs allowed.

Sadi Farley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and six unearned) runs on 13 hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Anna Collins made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Carmyn Daugherty, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Meek's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 26-9. As for Ragland, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-22 record this season.

As of now, neither Meek nor Ragland have any future games scheduled.
