Rancho and Silverado are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. Rancho will head out on the road to take on Silverado at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rancho has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Rancho's tournament run continued when they took on Boulder City on Wednesday. Rancho fell 11-8 to Boulder City.
Rancho saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonathan Ramos, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Ramos a new career-high in doubles (two). Mayson Au Young-Uwaine was another, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Silverado is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Cheyenne Mountain. Silverado took a 15-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cheyenne Mountain. The Skyhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Preston Clark was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kanoa Wolfgang, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Even though they lost, Silverado kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. This was only their first loss (out of five games) when they post 11 or more hits.
Silverado's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Rancho, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rancho hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Silverado struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rancho came up short against Silverado in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 4-1. Can Rancho avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
