Basketball Game Preview: Jefferson Saints vs. Middle Park Panthers

Jefferson is 1-9 against Middle Park since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Jefferson Saints will host the Middle Park Panthers at 5:30 p.m. Middle Park took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Jefferson, who comes in off a win.

Jefferson is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They put the hurt on Englewood with a sharp 68-45 win on Tuesday. The Saints have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 23 points or more this season.

Meadow Mondragon and T Nutter were among the main playmakers for Jefferson as the former went 10 of 13 from beyond the arc on her way to 36 points and the latter dropped a double-double on 20 points and 19 boards. Nutter is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least 11 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Sara Sylvester, who posted ten points.

Jefferson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Middle Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 39-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fort Lupton.

Jefferson's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-5. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.3 points per game. As for Middle Park, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Jefferson strolled past Middle Park in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 50-36. Will Jefferson repeat their success, or does Middle Park have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
