Baseball Game Preview: Marist Spartans vs. Pendleton Buckaroos

The Marist Spartans will challenge the Pendleton Buckaroos on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Marist sitting on nine straight wins and Pendleton on six.

Marist is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They skirted past Henley 7-5.

Meanwhile, Pendleton faced Scappoose in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Buckaroos beat the Indians by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 10-2. The Buckaroos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.

Pendleton pushed their record up to 22-8 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Marist, their victory bumped their record up to 21-3.

Marist took their win against Pendleton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
