Stratford hadn't done well against Ashley Ridge recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Stratford Knights had just enough and edged out the Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes 8-7. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 4-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jachin Davis made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Jason Smith was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Tripp Smith was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Stratford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ashley Ridge only posted a batting average of .240.

Stratford now has a winning record of 2-1-2. As for Ashley Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stratford will head out to square off against Fort Dorchester at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Stratford has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Ashley Ridge will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Stall at 6:30 p.m. on March 31st.
